Before learners use AI for an assignment

A practical, responsible pre-submission checklist for learners.

LearnerSenior and FETReviewed for launch

AI can help you question, practise and organise. It should not replace your judgement or hide where ideas came from.

Before you begin

  1. Read the task and mark what must be your own work.
  2. Choose a specific learning job, such as generating practice questions or explaining a difficult term.
  3. Do not enter private personal information, assessment answers supplied in confidence or someone else’s work.

Before you submit

  1. Check every factual claim against your prescribed material or a reliable source.
  2. Rewrite only from your own understanding, not to disguise copied output.
  3. Disclose AI use when your school or teacher requires it.
  4. Keep a short record of prompts, useful output and corrections.
