Build a three-question exit ticket
A fast classroom routine that checks recall, application and reflection.
An exit ticket is a short final check. This version uses three questions to reveal different kinds of understanding without creating a marking pile.
The three-question pattern
- Recall: Name or define the essential idea from today.
- Apply: Use the idea in a new example, calculation or short scenario.
- Reflect: What is still unclear, and what would help?
Build yours in five minutes
Write the lesson goal as an action. Draft one question per pattern. Add the answer or success criteria. Decide how responses change tomorrow’s opening activity.
Read the responses
- Most recall errors: reteach vocabulary or the core representation.
- Recall is secure but application is weak: model one transfer example.
- Several learners name the same uncertainty: start there next lesson.
